  • Not just any complaint, an excessive noise complaint. I live alone and I'm a very anxious person.
  • I tiptoe around my apartment, I keep my TV under volume, I dont have people over, I don't listen to music.
  • Woman holds her head while reading a paper, with an inset image of a printed notice posted on a wall beside her
  • The only thing I can think of being loud is me opening the door to my balcony at night, which I do because these apartments get hot and I've been sick.
  • When my mom and boyfriend came over to help me move, I would sob for them to keep it down because it would make me so anxious.
  • This was what I was afraid of. The entire time I've lived here, I haven't had a downstairs neighbor, but I've been a downstairs neighbor.
  • I cannot stress enough how quiet I am. I don't even use the bathroom at night.
  • Woman rests her arm on a chair and bites her knuckle while gazing toward a window, appearing anxious in a quiet room
  • I don't shower in the morning. They didn't even tell me what was noisy??
  • Ok-Opportunity-574 Sound can travel. You may be perfectly quiet but if the next unit over is a stomper who plays the tv too loud they may be hearing it. I'd tell the leasing office that you genuinely think they have the wrong person and might want to get more specific on exactly what the sound is and where it's coming from.
  • B4biee Original Poster's Reply I used to keep my fairy and Christmas tree lights on (my balcony oversees a courtyard and it's pretty) but I've started to leave it off when im gone so they know I'm not home. Makes me sad cause I looked forward to coming home to them :( If my other neighbors are being noisy when I'm clearly not there, idk maybe I could bring that up
  • B4biee Original Poster's Reply Should I ask them to clarify?, I know it says quiet hours but I'm ASLEEP?
  • Tired-CottonCandy The tenants below you need to provide proof of excessive noise in order for anything further than a notice to be given. If you are not making excessive noise, then you have nothing to worry about.
  • B4biee Original Poster's Reply Thank you, that's what I was thinking, I appreciate it!
  • Woman sits cross-legged on a bed with one hand on her chest and the other on her stomach, eyes closed in a calm bedroom
  • whambapp I live below some tenants who open and close their balcony door all day long and late into the night. I think they are vaping. Anyway, its very loud! Is your balcony door a sliding door. If so, trust me - its loud!
  • B4biee Original Poster's Reply It is a sliding door but when I do use it, it's within the hours mentioned
  • B4biee Original Poster's Reply Update: I left my apartment because my family needed me, I'm really scared to go back because of this, gonna sleep an hour away :)
  • habs306 Go tell them wrong person
  • SolarFlower24 You deserve and are allowed to live you life. Walking around, opening balcony doors, things like that is all very normal within quiet hours. Like maybe don't vacuum at night but you're allowed to live your life. A lot of apartments are not built with quality and soundproofing in mind and this IS NOT YOUR FAULT. You seem very considerate.
  • Mean-Rise8454 I've gotten multiple of these from my neighbor. Finally, I replied to HOA asking what noise were they referring to since I live alone and I don't have people over and just watch TV or am on my computer at night. So I don't know what excessive noise they could be talking about. I stopped getting the noise complaints after that because when HOA asked my neighbor, he complained about me walking around at night. And I am allowed to walk around in my apartment.
  • omggallout This looks like a reminder letter they would give everybody. We used to get these on our doors about smoking when our building is a non-smoking building. Everyone had one taped up on their door because someone reported smoking, but the office didn't know exactly who was doing it. For the love of everything, please feel free to use the bathroom when needed, and take a shower whenever you want. Don't worry about making normal living noises. Maybe don't use a blender at 11pm, but flushin
  • Accomplished_Pea6334 Unless they have video proof, I wouldn't worry. That's just a courtesy notice. You can email management and say "please confirm the time and dates they are complaining with video proof".
